About Picture Restoration
by Lavinia Buswell-Beard
Lavinia Buswell-Beard has over 25 years experience as a Picture Conservator-Restorer. She trained in London following a degree gained in Fine Arts in New Zealand.
Lavinia specialises in the restoration of oil paintings on canvas, panel, metal and slate, covering all periods of history. She has particular experience in 16th, 17th and 18th century paintings. She works both at her studio and on the site of clients. Her studio is within 30 minutes of London, 15 minutes from Heathrow and close to the M4, M25 and M40 motorways.
Her practice is included in the Conservation Register (entry requires continuous assessment of an individual’s work) and she is a Fellow of the British Association of Paintings Conservator-Restorers. She is internationally respected and has worked on paintings around the world including the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Scandinavia, North America, Australia, and New Zealand.

Her conservation work includes contracts with Museums, Galleries and Historic Houses, as well as Military and Private Collections. She has particular skill in Fire and Flood damaged paintings and accordingly is retained by insurance companies.
Following a fire or flood, works that might seem unrecoverable can very often be saved, see 'Lake Como' below.
All her conservation work is documented with written progress reports and photographs. There is minimal intervention on all paintings and work is reversible.
Lavinia is a qualified gilder and undertakes frame repairs and restoration. She is also a well known artist with works in private and national collections around the world.
